ICT for democracy
Guys,
one interesting example of how to use technology for the promotion of human development: the City Council of Belo Horizonte (where I live) is currently promoting a campaign in the internet where the citizens can choose what public works should be done. It ranges from public libraries to construction work, divided in 9 different regions of the city. The initiative is called "participative budget".
I don“t know if you have ever seen a similar program in your countries, but I thought it was something interesting to share with you. They actually say it is an original program in the world (I am not sure I believe it though). I thought Carlos would especially like this :)
The link is www.opdigital.pbh.gov.br (sorry, only in Portuguese)
all the best!

Hi Ana
Thanks for the interesting post you made :) It could really prove to be quite intesresting for me because I have an internship in the public "kommune", like under the city council but in a department dealing with business. I luckily have a friend who can translate the portuguese and maybe get inspired to make a similar suggestion to the city council here :)
Also I hope you had a nice and cosy christmas and a happy new year. The best wishes from me :)
